AMD always remained in the shadow of Intel until the launch of its Athlon and Opteron processors. Although AMD holds less than 20% of the global microprocessor market vis-à-vis Intels's 80%, the technical superiority of its products has been accepted by the industry. With Hector Ruiz at the helm, the company has initiated renewed effort in continuing its commitment to customer-centric innovation.
